Objectives
Understanding Our Roots. Strengthening Our Future.
dgrassroot seeks to explore India's history, knowledge, traditions and capabilities — and bring relevant insights into the awareness of Indians today.
Our objectives will evolve in two phases: first, to build knowledge, awareness and understanding; and then to connect that knowledge with everyday life, society and India's future.
PHASE 1
KNOW • QUESTION • UNDERSTAND
Building the foundation
Phase 1 focuses on discovering, documenting and understanding India's past and present — while encouraging people to question what they hear, examine available evidence and develop informed perspectives.
01 — INDIAN HISTORY
Building a Chronology
Create an accessible chronology of Indian history — its people, kingdoms, institutions, events, achievements and civilisational developments. The objective is to bring India's story together in a form that is accessible to ordinary Indians and particularly useful to younger generations.
02 — SANATAN PROCESSES, PRIDE & VALUES
Rediscover What We Have Lost
Explore Sanatan processes, values, practices and traditions that may have been forgotten, diluted or disconnected from their original context. The objective is to understand their origins, purpose and relevance — before accepting, rejecting or judging them.
03 — LAW & GOVERNANCE
Ancient India. Modern India. The World.
Explore legal and governance principles in ancient India and compare them with India's present legal framework and selected systems in other countries. The objective is to understand what existed, what changed and what we can learn from the comparison.
04 — TECHNOLOGICAL LANDMARKS
What Did Ancient India Know and Build?
Document and examine India's scientific and technological landmarks — from mathematics and astronomy to metallurgy, architecture, water management, agriculture, textiles and engineering. The emphasis will be on evidence, context and understanding, rather than exaggerated claims.
05 — INFORM & ENGAGE
Ideas That Deserve Attention - Use blogs, short videos and analysis to bring subjects of importance to the attention of Indians at large.
06 — WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Knowledge. Opportunity. Participation.
Recognise and highlight the contributions of Indian women across history, knowledge, culture, science, enterprise and society. Explore opportunities, skills, knowledge and pathways that can enable greater participation of women in family, community, enterprise and nation-building.
Empowerment begins with awareness — and grows through opportunity and participation.
PHASE 2
CONNECT • APPLY • CONTRIBUTE
Taking knowledge forward
Phase 2 builds on the foundation created in Phase 1.
The focus shifts from knowing and understanding to applying relevant knowledge in everyday life, recognising contributions, strengthening capabilities and encouraging people to participate in India's future.
07 — NATION BUILDING
Acknowledging Contributions to India
and acknowledge the contribution of organisations and movements, to nation building, social service and community development. dgrassroot will seek to examine such contributions through documentation, evidence and balanced analysis.
08 — KNOWLEDGE REPOSITORY
Find. Analyse. Verify.
Build a repository of useful resources available across the internet, including: YouTube videos • Articles • Websites • Research • Reference material • Other digital resources. Where appropriate, resources will be accompanied by analysis, context and fact checks, helping visitors assess the reliability and usefulness of what they encounter online.
09 — LIVING TRADITIONS OF INDIA
What Is Still Being Practiced?
Document traditional practices that continue to live in homes, communities, villages and temples across India. The objective is to record living knowledge before it disappears, changes beyond recognition or becomes disconnected from its original context.
10 — HARNESSING YOUTH ENERGY
India's young people represent one of the country's greatest sources of energy, creativity and possibility. dgrassroot aims to connect young Indians with India's history, knowledge, culture, opportunities and challenges — encouraging them to question, learn, create, contribute and lead.
The objective is to move young people from being consumers of information to participants in India's future.
11 - INDIAN PRODUCTS
The Indian Alternative May Already Exist
Identify Indian products, manufacturers, technologies and capabilities that offer strong alternatives to imported products but remain relatively unknown or difficult to discover. The objective is : To Make the Indian alternative visible.
KNOWLEDGE IS WHERE THE JOURNEY BEGINS.
Understanding our past can change how we see the present.
Understanding the present can influence the choices we make for the future.
Know. Question. Understand. Contribute.

WHAT BINDS ALL THESE OBJECTIVES TOGETHER?
ONE PURPOSE. MANY DIRECTIONS.
Our objectives may span history, traditions, technology, law, wellbeing, products, women and youth, but the underlying purpose remains the same:
To make knowledge accessible. To encourage people to question. To rediscover what may have been forgotten. To recognise what deserves to be valued. And to use what we learn to build a stronger future.
OUR APPROACH
DISCOVER - Find knowledge, stories, practices and capabilities.
DOCUMENT - Preserve them in an accessible form.
QUESTION - Examine claims, assumptions and interpretations.
SHARE - Make useful knowledge available to more Indians.
